All instruments from Fairfax Fine Violins leave the store in good playing condition and good repair. There are no open seams or open cracks. The bow hair and the strings are new and the instrument has been set up and adjusted by a Fairfax Fine Violins luthier. If you are picking up the instrument at our store, please examine the instrument before you leave. Should your instrument be damaged during shipping, you have 4 days after receiving the instrument to contact us regarding the type and extent of damage. We recommend that you photograph the damage if possible. After the 4 day period has passed, the cost to repair any and all damages will be assumed by the customer. The rental may be returned at any time after the minimum rental period of 90 days. All renters will receive 15% off their purchase of strings or bow rehair service, and 10% off their purchase of all other accessories. 

The customer assumes full responsibility for the rental outfit (instrument, bow, case), including paying 100% of the costs for any and all repairs unless the customer has purchased the optional Instrument Protection Plan. The Instrument Protection Plan does not cover any necessary bow-hair or string replacement, nor does it cover loss or theft of the instrument or bow. In the event of loss or theft, the customer is liable for the full retail value of the instrument. Fairfax Fine Violins recommends that you insure your instrument with your homeowner’s or renter insurance company to provide coverage in the event of loss or theft. There will be a deductible charge amount of $150 for Violin, $200 for Viola and $550 for Cello for any major repair. Any damage valued at or under the instrument’s deductible will be covered in full at no cost. This deductible will cover the replacement of a BOW, BRIDGE, or END PIN which is damaged beyond repair once a year; additional replacement bows over a one-year period must be covered by the customer. There is no deductible available for Double Bass; for any damages on a Double Bass, insurance will cover 60% of the repair cost, while the customer is liable for the remaining 40%. 

All repairs to any rental instrument or bow must be done by Fairfax Fine Violins. When returning this instrument and bow, either due to closing the rental account or changing the size, the condition of the instrument and bow will be assessed and if there is determined to be damage beyond normal wear and tear, additional charges may be incurred and repair fees charged accordingly unless the customer has purchase the optional Instrument Protection Plan. 

This contract will run for an initial minimum term of 3 months and will automatically renew every month. Rental fees will continue to be charged until the instrument is in the possession of Fairfax Fine Violins. Rent is due on the due date. If payment is not received on the due date a $5 LATE FEE will be assessed. For each week the account remains unpaid, an additional $5 late fee will be assessed. Fairfax Fine Violins reserves the right to require the return of the rental instrument outfit at any time the account is past due. This includes reclaiming the instrument from where the instrument is kept, with or without the renter’s knowledge. The renter is responsible for notifying us of any change in your address contact, or payment information.

A maximum of 21 months rental credit may be applied towards purchase, regardless of how long the instrument has been rented. Rental credit may not exceed 50% of the cost of the instrument or bow purchased. Rental credit may not be combined with any other promotional discounts. Rental credit is non-transferable. Rental credit from multiple contracts may not be combined, even if the contracts are within a family or individual. You must use this rental credit within 60 days of the contract termination. Any unused credit is forfeited after that time. 

This contract is a contract under seal and intended to be a specialty under Virginia law.
